What Are Flat Fees?

As explained by Mark Allan Chinn, a “flat fee” is a one-time charge that is designed to cover all of the work. The primary attribute of the flat fee is that it will not change depending on what happens in the case or how long it takes. As long as the project remains within the bounds of the understanding as to what is to be done, the client should not be charged more than the agreed-upon price, no matter how much time is expended by the lawyer.

While many lawyers will resist answering the question of costs as the cost of family law matters can greatly depend on the conflicts between the parties, the flat fee attorney should be able to explain exactly what situations would change the scope and level of services to a higher tier. Our Levels of Representation

We offer different levels of service designed to match the needs and budgets of a wide range of Nebraska families—from those seeking primarily a cost-effective resolution to those needing elite litigation support.

Level	Ideal For	What It Includes
Silver	Low-conflict or limited issues; situations where Client has access to all information needed to finalize their matter.	GordenLaw handles limited filings and documents. Firm Attorneys will rely solely on information provided by Client. Limited meetings and communication. Firm and Attorneys will not attend any hearings or conduct discovery. Representation timeline will conclude within 3-6 months.
Gold	Moderate to high-conflict matters, financial complexities, contested parenting issues; situations where more information is needed before a matter can finalize. Trial seems unlikely but may be necessary.	All of the services provided at the Silver level plus motion hearings and written discovery through Pretrial in the matter. This level of representation includes the more basic litigation and information gathering in the average case across each practice area. Representation typically concludes within 6 months to 1 year (12 months) in most types of cases.
Diamond	Full service representation best for high-net-worth divorce, complex custody, relocation or removal, multi-state issues, or intense litigation, high-conflict issues. Can include expert witnesses and valuations.	White-glove service including all services provided at Silver and Gold level plus concierge-level access to your legal team. Representation typically concludes within 12-18 months. At this level, the Firm and its Attorneys will take care of all services not required to be specifically arranged by Client.
